At the beginning of this course I had a hard time understanding how you would create different “templates” for the different pages in a WordPress site, especially since you can add the navigation right from the website rather than list them in the text editor. Learning how to create custom separate pages is in my opinion how you can make a WordPress theme your own.

Separate pages in WordPress allows the designer to have the ability to have complete design control over pages, rather than having them all look the same. Design wise, no page in a given website is normally the same as each typically has different importance of content of what should be displayed.  This to me was the easiest way to be able to create multiple different templates.

The best part about this entire topic is how easy they are to activate. You simply go into a page you have created, and on the right sidebar under page attributes is a template drop down menu. If you loaded and named your separate page template correctly it should appear as one of the options from the drop down menu. All you have to do is select it and update the whole page. I created every single one of my pages this way and it really made WordPress even easier to use!
